The faculties and departments affected include those that have traditionally been operating at the main campus premises, namely, Department of Freshman Studies, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Business and Public Administration, Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, Faculty of Computing and Informatics, Faculty of Engineering.
The senate meeting was shared by Prof. Ahmed Abdillahi Boqore, Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance, Amoud University. In attendance were Prof. Mohamed Mohamoud Jama "Derie", Vice President, in charge of Public Relations and Community outreach, and overall in charge of students affairs, Dr. Mohamed Muse Jibril (PhD), Vice President for Academic Affairs, Suleiman Hassan Ali, Chief Academic Registrar, Saed Hassan Habaneh, Director Human Resource Department, Mustafe said Elmi, Deputy Director, Human Resource Department, Abdinasir Dahir Egeh Dahir, Assistant Dean, Office of Students Affairs (OSA) and Bishar Elmi Yey, Director, Quality Assurance and Maintenance of Standards (QAMS) office.
Several Deans of faculties and Schools were also present including Mukhtar Abdi Omar, Dean Amoud School of Postgraduate Studies and Research (SPGSR), AU, Abubokor Said Ali, - Dean, Faculty of Business & Public Administration, AU, Edwin O. Okech, - Dean, Faculty of Computing & ICT, Mohamed Abdi Osman - Dean, Faculty of Agriculture & Environment, AU, Abdirizak Mahamud Osman, - Dean, Faculty of Economics & Political Science, AU, Eng. Abdikarim Idiris Nour, - Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AU, Abdirahman Ahmed Muhumed, - Dean, Faculty of Education, AU and Harun Ismail Warsame, - Dean, Freshman Department, AU.
In the new set up, the weekly routine working hours will commence on Saturday 7:30am through to Thursday 12:30pm. The weekend will start Thursday 12:30pm through to Friday of every week. There will be no classes offered on weekends.
Furthermore there will be three shifts of class schedules, early morning shift, mid morning shift and one afternoon shift as follows:-
Early Morning Shift 7:00am - 9:30am
Mid Morning Shift 10:00am - 12:30pm
Afternoon Shift 2:00pm - 5:00pm
The Freshman Department is further in line with the new changes scheduled to commence classes for the new intake of high school graduates on Tuesday, September 1st, 2020 with the proposed new changes being executed from the new academic year September 2020/ July 2021 while the remaining faculties are scheduled to re-open for the new academic year for the continuing students on Saturday, September 15th, 2020 for the academic year September 2020/ July 2021.
All students and staff are therefore urged to put the changes in perspective and requested to prepare adequately to embrace the new changes.
